Isn't it interesting how Luna, Artemis, and Diana are names derived from ancient Roman and Greek definitions for the Moon? 

Luna = Latin for Moon

Artemis = Greek Goddess of the Moon

Diana = Roman Goddess of the Moon

Luna was discovered by Serena on her way to school, or you can say that Luna found her.  From then on, Luna has always been known as Serena's guardian.  While Artemis was able to find Mina (Sailor Venus).  It's interesting to note how each cat is more comfortable with the first person  they first discover.  Also note that it's interesting how Artemis discovered Mina as opposed to all the other Sailor Scouts.  Perhaps it's because Mina looks like Serena the most.  That detail will become important in a future episode when Sailor Venus must dress up as Sailor Moon to save Sailor Moon from her identities being revealed to one of the Death Buster...

To the left here is a picture of Luna giving Serena her first transformation brooch.  In the very first episode of Sailor Moon, Luna revealed Serena's destiny of becoming Sailor Moon.   To prove it to "Meatball Head", Luna gave Serena the Sailor Moon Brooch.  The brooch transformed Serena from an ordinary teenager to Sailor Moon.  The brooch grows in strength as Serena grows in knowledge and confidence of her responsibilities and in her destiny.

Now here another cute picture of them at the beach.  Looking at the beautiful peaceful sunset with Darien and Serena!   This picture is from the ending credits of the Sailor S Movie - the one with the evil ice queen and Luna following in love with a human!!!

In the Sailor S movie (Heart of Ice), Luna falls in love with a human (Kakeru). In an effort to save his life, Luna wishes to make his dream come true. Therefore Super Sailor Moon uses the power of the chalice to grant Luna's wish by transforming her into a human. Luna's human form brought Princess Kaguya to life for Kakeru. Luna takes Kakeru on a journey to the space and a visit to the moon. Kakeru wish has finally come true and so has Luna's. Then Luna leaves Kakeru and transforms back into a cat.

Of course it doesn't take long for Kakeru to make a connection that Luna the cat was really his Princess Kaguya?????? Well anyways, if you want to know the entire plot line, then watch the movie!!! Sailor Moon S (Heart of Ice) is the second installment in the Sailor Moon movie series. The first one was Sailor Moon R (Promise of the Rose).
